DevOps Engineer

Summary

A full-time remote DevOps Engineer is needed to support a Department of Veterans Affairs project. The ideal candidate should have experience in secure coding, release workflows, API development, system integration, and healthcare compliance, reside within the continental US, and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years of experience.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience
• 3-5 years of experience in DevSecOps and CI/CD practices
• Expertise in REST principles, API versioning, and testing tools like Postman
• Proficiency in Python or Node.js for API development
• Experience building server less applications using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and other AWS services
• Familiarity with AWS CloudFormation and event-driven architecture
• Knowledge of healthcare data standards (CDA, FHIR, HL7) for compliance and interoperability
• Experience with Git version control, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews
• Strong communication skills for client interactions and technical documentation

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server less RESTful APIs for the Data Quality Tools (DQT) system
• Implement healthcare data exchange standards to ensure regulatory compliance and data interoperability
• Integrate external services and systems for smooth data exchange within the DQT project
• Maintain the codebase, identify bugs, and ensure system stability

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in SAFe/Agile Software Development
• Familiarity with VA environment is a plus
• Ability to obtain a government clearance
