Director, Advisory Services

Summary

Join Orr Group, a leading consultancy serving nonprofits, as a Director in our Capacity Building practice area. You will lead client teams, developing and implementing strategies to achieve their goals, while also mentoring within Orr Group. This role involves managing diverse projects, overseeing day-to-day operations, and serving as the primary client liaison. The position requires extensive nonprofit experience, strong project management skills, and excellent communication abilities. Requirements

• 10+ years of nonprofit sector experience with a focus in any or all of the following
• Assessing the feasibility and creating actionable plans for fundraising campaigns
• Evaluating the performance of fundraising departments and creating actionable plans for growth and efficiency
• Aiding in the planning, building, and execution of organizational strategic plans
• Facilitating and developing compelling fundraising messaging, such as cases for support
• Assessing and growing the effectiveness of planned giving programs
• Project management skills
• Stakeholder engagement with non-profit leadership
• Direct experience creating donor strategies in addition to departmental or organizational strategies
• Ability to gather, analyze, and synthesize data; ability to use that data to tell a compelling, convincing, and clear story for relevant stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree required
• Knowledge of "best practices" in fundraising and nonprofit management
• Excellent verbal and written communication, including strong attention to detail and editing skills
• Ability to handle multiple clients and projects simultaneously
• Strong time/project management and organization skills and the ability to remain flexible and effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated desire and ability to lead a team toward a shared goal
• Flexibility to work long and varying hours (when needed) to meet fixed deadlines

Responsibilities

• Oversee project management

• Drive teamwork strategies
• Serve as the principal liaison with the client
• Actively lead the workstreams of the project
• Oversee data collection and analysis
• Lead the development of strategies and report writing
• Lead client presentations
• Communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, including board members, C-suite, staff, donors, and outside advisors
• Collaborate on client work with Orr Group team members, managing up and down
• Oversee day-to-day operations and fulfillment of contracted projects
• Manage project teams and coordinating project work for others; serving as mentor and coach to team members
• Synthesize and present information to clients with a focus on distilling major themes from in-depth analysis
• Discover solutions and employ new and innovative ideas

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certificate
• Familiarity with AI fundraising and productivity tools or a desire to learn
• Candidates based in the Washington, DC or New York City areas
• Candidates in Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, San Francisco, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Miami, FL, or Philadelphia, PA
