Summary
Join Industrious Labs as the Director of Industrial Systems & Analysis, a fully remote position reporting to Victoria Chu. You will manage technical research and analysis for cross-sectoral efforts, shaping and executing analytics strategies to advance the organization's mission. Key responsibilities include strategic analysis and partnerships, leveraging expertise through engagement with federal and state-level efforts and building a national network of experts. You will also play a leadership role in the Analytics Department, managing staff, budgets, and projects. The ideal candidate possesses a deep commitment to environmental and climate justice, proven collaboration skills, and the ability to design and execute coordinated strategies. Requirements
- 10-15 years of increasing responsibility in developing and delivering technical analysis in an academic, campaign, advocacy, or political context
- Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analytical and modeling proficiency with expert level proficiency in: Power and Industrial Systems Data from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Energy Information Administration (EIA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), including electricity demand data, power plant characteristics, transmission line data, renewable energy modeling and credits, and emissions/fuel pricing
- Open-source software contributions, utilizing Git version control
- Statistical software such as R, Python statistical packages, SAS, or Stata and visualization software such as GIS, Tableau, Plotly, or other
- Programming for data collection and calculation automation
- MS Office Applications, especially Microsoft Excel or Access
- Proven track record of delivering strategic, actionable analysis in an advocacy or campaign setting. Enthusiasm for leveraging analysis to sharpen strategies and build credibility in new partnerships
- Outstanding people and project management abilities to ensure strong collaboration and campaigns and projects that advance on time and on budget
- Experience providing high-level support and expertise in the direction of campaign efforts to partners and executives
- Ability to get up to speed on complex information and communicate key trends and findings effectively
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills that demonstrate an ability to translate complex data and analysis into persuasive narratives

Responsibilities
- Serve as the in-house expert on socio-technological trends and research towards industrial transformation
- Create and execute comprehensive and actionable analytics plans to engage in cross-sectoral and broader industrial policy, research, and analysis that drives forward strategies, innovation, and impact
- Leverage expertise through direct engagement of both federal and state level industrial decarbonization efforts and through publications, posts, and speaking engagements
- Build a diverse national network of technical experts, practitioners, and big thinkers to leverage innovative ideas and strategies to drive solutions towards industrial transformation
- Play a leadership role in the Analytics Department
- Manage, coach, mentor other Analytics Department staff
- Engage in fundraising efforts, manage budgets, and supervise contractors and vendors
- Build and manage systems and projects that cut across and serve the entire department
- Other leadership responsibilities as needed or required
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience and content knowledge in climate, clean energy, public policy and/or the industrial sector, including manufacturing and labor
- Entrepreneurial drive to build an organization from the ground up; prior start-up experience as an early team member in a growing organization
- Established history of scientific publishing, authoring peer-reviewed articles in disciplines related to industrial analysis
