Summary

Join Voltage Park as their Director of People and play a pivotal role in shaping the employee experience within this fast-growing startup. You will be responsible for the overall strategy, planning, and execution of the People Team's mandate, including managing the team and working closely with the Head of Talent. This remote role requires you to be based in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, or Chicago, and involves acting as a player/coach, providing HRBP support to managers. Your expertise in modern feedback frameworks, performance management, and employee development will significantly impact Voltage Park's team members' capabilities and capacity. You will contribute to maintaining Voltage Park's high employee retention rate through thoughtfully designed compensation and benefits, and by fostering a strong company culture. This position requires significant HR experience and a deep understanding of compensation strategy, performance management, and learning & development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of HR experience, with at least 3-5 years in senior or director-level roles at growth stage, highly-distributed, engineering-driven environments
  • Experience building and maintaining a high-performance, inclusive company culture that emphasizes accountability, growth, and employee well-being
  • Deep understanding of compensation strategy, performance management, and learning & development with a focus on equity and employee growth
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing HR systems, performance management frameworks, and compensation programs
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and empower leaders across the organization
  • Experience unifying a workforce distributed across office space, physical work environments (e.g., data centers), and remote positions
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, compliance, and employment law – especially as it pertains to equitable hiring and performance management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to clearly and concisely explain problems and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences

Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the strategy, planning, and achievement of the People Team mandate, including the management of the team responsible for its execution
  • Work closely with our Head of Talent to develop strategies and vision for delivering a seamless transition from candidate to team member, and to ensure connective tissue between the employee lifecycle and the recruitment of talent
  • Act as an HRBP to our managers to ensure they are fully supported through change management, performance coaching, and any matters of legal compliance

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar)
  • Experience meaningfully integrating AI into the employee experience
  • Experience working at companies in HPC and/or Cloud Computing
  • Experience with skilled physical labor workforce (e.g., data center technicians)
  • Belief in building equitable and inclusive culture reflective of the world we serve
