Summary

The job is for a Tax Operations Manager at financial technology company Circle. The role involves managing the consolidated tax provision, quarterly filings, and other tax-related financial statements in compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in global corporate tax (including public accounting experience)
• At least 5+ years of managing a team in a public company setting or corporate tax department
• Demonstrated expertise in accounting for income tax issues and US GAAP
• Fluency with various tax calculations and compliance software
• Familiarity with international tax and cross border differences
• Excellent communications skills, ability to explain tax concepts with cross-functional and management teams
• Prioritization of tax technical positions and related documentation. Experience with M&A strongly preferred
• Experience in financial services or fintech industries preferred
• Excellence in executing complex, multistakeholder projects and initiatives
• True relationship building skills and commitment to high standards of integrity and work quality
• Ability to lead by modeling collaborative, humble, and execution-oriented behavior
• Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred
• Experience/familiarity with Slack, Apple MacOS and GSuite

Responsibilities

• Managing the consolidated tax provision, quarterly filings, and other tax-related financial statements in compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Leading and mentoring the tax team in completing the provision process from planning and forecasting through to calculations, recording, analysis and reporting
• Managing external auditor relationship for US GAAP audit of income taxes
• Managing the team (internal and external) to deliver all US income tax reporting including federal, state and US international tax returns
• Improving standardization/automation in the US tax compliance process and driving continuous process improvements to streamline the global tax accounting process
• Ensuring analytics and accuracy of the reported effective tax rate components as well as the forecasted effective tax rate and cash taxes globally
• Championing operational excellence through process improvement, leveraging best practices, supporting the evolution of tax software tools, and promoting automation and technology to enhance efficiency and scalability
• Building and managing a global tax operations function with heavy emphasis on establishing efficient processes informed by multinational corporate experience and best practices
• Developing and motivating a team that will excel in a fast-moving, hyper-growth setting
• Building on key multistakeholder relationships with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Business teams to ensure integration of Tax as a business partner
• Contributing to quarterly reporting to the Audit Committee in Board of Director meetings
• Tracking US tax legislative developments and related implications to provide financial risk and operational advice to management on any impacts to Circle
• Driving key Tax contributions  to the design and implementation of the future ERP system and be responsible for managing the tax software procurement process
• Automating recurring calculations including evaluating and implementing tax technology tools

Benefits

• Base Pay Range: $190,000 - $242,500
• Annual Bonus Target: 20%
