Editorial Content Intern

Summary

Join Ballotpedia's Sumners Scholars Summer 2025 internship program as a part-time, remote Editorial Content Intern. This paid internship offers flexible hours (up to 20 hours/week) and allows interns to set their own schedules. The program runs for nine weeks, from June 2nd to August 1st, 2025. Interns will contribute significantly to Ballotpedia's mission by researching, analyzing, and publishing content on political information. Successful candidates will be existing Sumners Scholars and will be expected to attend one in-person event in Texas. Ballotpedia will cover travel and lodging expenses for this event.

Requirements

• Be an existing Sumners Scholar
• Provide a resume, cover letter (including contact information for two professional references and a neutral writing sample), and current address in PDF format
• Attend one in-person event in Texas during the program dates

Responsibilities

• Research and write about elections and other political information for a select group of region-specific states
• Learn to navigate Ballotpedia’s database
• Publish your researched content to Ballotpedia.org
• Write and research on other topics as assigned
• Participate in in-depth virtual and in-person training sessions to learn more about their topic area

Preferred Qualifications

Some familiarity with Google Applications (Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, etc.)
