Summary

Join Prepared as the Engineering Manager of our Dispatch team and lead a team focused on architecting, building, and scaling new products for 911 dispatchers and first responders. You will leverage cutting-edge technologies like audio processing, speech-to-text, and LLMs to build a product suite that monitors radio traffic, associates it with 911 calls, and assists dispatchers in communication and dispatching. This is a high-priority initiative for 2025. You will collaborate with product, design, and go-to-market teams. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proven ability to manage engineering teams in high-growth environments. Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role
  • Excel at motivating teams, fostering growth, and building a sense of shared purpose as a people-centric leader
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to manage engineering teams and deliver complex projects in high-growth environments
  • Proven ability to balance leadership and technical contributions, excelling in roles requiring both hands-on coding and team management
  • Possess proficiency in modern tech stacks, with experience in or willingness to learn React, Ruby on Rails, and Golang
  • Proficiency with cloud infrastructure, such as AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to align technical and business goals

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a team of engineers
  • Foster growth and cultivate a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovation
  • Establish processes to ensure consistent, high-quality code delivery
  • Drive efficiency and reliability in our systems and applications
  • Partner with Product, Design, and other teams to align technical execution with business objectives
  • Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Guide the team through architectural decisions, balancing trade-offs between scalability, speed, and cost
  • Provide hands-on technical support as needed
  • Actively participate in hands-on development, especially in backend systems, while guiding the team with technical expertise
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high-quality standards while mentoring team members in best practices
  • Lead the design and architecture of scalable backend systems and APIs, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Identify and implement best practices, tools, and processes to drive technical excellence and team productivity
