Engineering Manager

Summary

Join Render's Keystone team as a leader, driving excellence in infrastructure products like Postgres, Redis, and ValKey. You will define and execute a product vision, lead and develop a high-performing engineering team, create strategic roadmaps, build operational efficiency, and collaborate with stakeholders. This role requires 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in management, deep expertise in infrastructure technologies, and excellent communication skills. Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in management roles including managing and hiring managers
• Deep expertise in infrastructure technologies, particularly databases (Postgres, Redis) and distributed systems, with a track record of building scalable, reliable solutions
• Ability to balance long-term technical strategy, technical debt, and urgent enablement of product delivery with optimism and energy
• Ability to draw creative solutions from an expert team, and realize maximum business impact
• Excellent ability to communicate complex technical ideas with clarity and precision in written and verbal modes

Responsibilities

• Drive Product Excellence: Define and execute a vision for world-class infrastructure products (Postgres, Redis, ValKey), ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability that exceeds customer expectations
• Lead and Develop the Team: Inspire, coach, and grow a team of high-performing engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, creativity, and ownership
• Create the Strategy and Roadmap: Collaborate with leadership and customers to identify market opportunities, prioritize product development, and build a roadmap for future "Keystone" offerings
• Build Operational Efficiency: Optimize team processes to balance innovation and technical debt management, while maintaining operational excellence and minimizing interruptions
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with product management, customers, and internal teams to understand needs, align priorities, and ensure delivery of impactful features and solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-a-service or software-as-a-service markets, including their competitive dynamics and customer expectations
• A track record of successful collaboration with sales, marketing, and customer support teams to drive adoption and retention

Benefits

• The starting salary for this role is between $170,000 and $210,000 USD
