Engineering Team Lead

Summary

Join Blue Coding as an Engineer Team Lead and work remotely from anywhere in the Americas! This role involves designing, building, and maintaining backend services for a fast-growing FinTech company redefining portfolio management in mortgage trading and asset management. You will utilize TypeScript and Node.js, build RESTful APIs, integrate with third-party systems, and work with Docker and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with hands-on experience in TypeScript, NodeJS, and PostgreSQL, and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the client's platform, using TypeScript and Node.js
• Build and consume RESTful APIs for efficient and secure client-server communication
• Design clear, versioned API endpoints and maintain comprehensive internal documentation
• Integrate with third-party APIs and external systems as needed
• Work with containerised services in Docker and manage SQL within our Postgres databases
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver end-to-end features
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural and technical decisions
• Utilize CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and cloud services (AWS) for deployment and operations
• Provide technical leadership within the backend team, influencing best practices in architecture, scalability, and performance
• Support other engineers in our small team (circa 5 engineers) through guidance, occasional pair programming, and knowledge-sharing
• Help to drive engineering standards, tooling, and processes
• Assist with keeping the engineering team organised and unblocked, in collaboration with our product manager engineering leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with React is a plus
• Familiarity or knowledge with AWS
• Knowledge or experience with either credit, mortgages, trading platforms, or environments is a plus
