Summary
The job is for an Engineering Lead at Web Summit's admin tooling team. The role involves managing a team of 4 developers, influencing the architecture and development direction of applications, working closely with senior engineers, sharing knowledge with other team members, and breaking down complex projects into smaller problems.
Requirements
- Ability to understand large, complex distributed systems with many moving, interrelated parts
- Ideally, 5+ years of commercial experience in an OOP language, ideally Ruby. Python/Elixir also suitable
- We use a services architecture with many Apis in Rails
- Ideally, 2+ years of managing/leading an engineering team
- You are comfortable being hands on and working alongside engineers, and scheduling pair programming and review sessions
- Strong SDLC principles, TDD and CI/CD understanding
- Good understanding of AWS and Kubernetes a big advantage
- Comfortable working in Scrum/Kanban environment, with Git Pull/code reviews
Responsibilities
- You'll manage and lead our admin tooling team of 4 developers
- Youβll influence the architecture and development direction of the applications to ensure quality code is written and excellent products are built
- You'll work closely with the Head of Software Engineering, the CTO, and other lead engineers, to drive best-in-class software
- Youβll help the teams deliver high-quality, maintainable and scalable code that can power the best conferences in the world
- Youβll share knowledge with other team members via mentoring, code reviews and technical talks, and by consulting on projects
- You'll break down complex projects into smaller problems and work with others to ensure that great products get delivered as a result
