Environment Art Director

Summary

Believer is seeking an experienced Environment Art Director to lead the development of game environments for a new IP. The art director will collaborate with the team to establish visual direction, create visually stunning assets, develop the art pipeline, mentor the environment art team, and stay updated with industry trends.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in environment art creation for AAA games
• Proficiency in industry-standard 2D and 3D software such as Photoshop, ZBrush, Maya, or 3DS Max
• Experience working on stylized environment art for games with a strong art direction
• Experience working with a team and communicating with other departments to ensure seamless integration of environments into the game
• Experience mentoring a team of artists who are working on multiple projects
• Experience gaming and the ability to bring a unique perspective to environment design to enhance the game experience

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the game Art Director, Concept Artists, and other game leads to establish the in-game visual direction for the game’s environments and ensure it aligns with the project’s creative vision
• Work with the Environment Art team to define the look and feel of the game’s worlds and levels, including their design, style, and atmosphere
• Create visually stunning world environment assets that align with the game's creative vision
• Develop the art pipeline for environment creation, ensuring efficiency and consistency across all environments
• Mentor and manage the environment art team, providing feedback and guidance
• Review environment art assets to ensure that they meet quality standards and are consistent with the game’s visual direction
• Work with other departments, such as concept art, level design, lighting, and tech art, to ensure that environment assets are integrated into the game and meet all technical requirements

• Annual salary range: $202,000-$272,000 USD
