Requirements

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Possess 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management within property management or real estate
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
• Show proficiency with property management accounting software, preferably Rent Manager
• Have advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
• Exhibit exceptional attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
• Have experience managing and mentoring accounting teams
• Have a property management and real estate background

Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
• Handle individual property accounting, accounts receivables, tenant ledger maintenance, and property-related expenses
• Maintain accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with GAAP
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Oversee quarterly distributions
• Collaborate and oversee finance team’s processes for acquisitions and dispositions
• Assist with the management of property assets
• Manage budgets in collaboration with department heads and property managers
• Monitor financial performance, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
• Manage cash flow to ensure adequate funding for operations and investments
• Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including tax filings and audits
• Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets
• Liaise with external auditors, tax professionals, and regulatory agencies
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing training and professional development opportunities
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the finance department
• Evaluate and enhance accounting systems, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency
• Oversee integration of property management and accounting systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Have familiarity with real estate transactions, leases, and property-level financials
• Have experience with corporate apartments or manufactured housing
