Summary

Join poolside, a company dedicated to building AI-powered software development tools, as their Financial Controller. This high-impact role offers the opportunity to establish yourself as the company's financial expert, ensuring accurate financial reporting and operations. You will be responsible for managing financial systems, complex transactions, and statutory compliance, while collaborating with various teams and external service providers. This role requires a CPA, prior audit experience, advanced NetSuite knowledge, and a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP. You will be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator, passionate about financial operations and eager to learn.

Requirements

  • You have a CPA and prior experience in audit, which gave you a deep understanding of U.S. GAAP
  • You have worked with NetSuite in the past and have an advanced knowledge of the tool
  • Your primary place of work will be located between CST and EST timezones
  • You've demonstrated the ability to build relationships and work effectively with external providers/clients/third parties in the past
  • You are hardworking, rigorous, obsessed with accuracy and you hate mistakes
  • You are a self-starter with a scrappy, solution-oriented mindset
  • You are a strong communicator and thrive on simplifying complex problems and making them understandable to others
  • You are a team player and enjoy the back-and-forth between taking ownership of your workstreams and collaborating with the rest of the team
  • You are passionate about the topics you’ll cover and you get satisfaction from acquiring new/deeper knowledge about them

Responsibilities

  • Own all aspects of our financial information and guarantee its accuracy (rev rec, COGS, OpEx, balance sheet accounts)
  • Work closely with external service providers (accountants, auditors, tax advisors, etc.) to ensure your mission is fulfilled
  • Be responsible for our financial systems (NetSuite, Ramp, Gusto, Payfit, etc.)
  • Manage complex financial transactions (stock-based compensation, transfer pricing arrangements, and shareholder loans)
  • Close the books in a timely manner and prepare internal and external reporting with Matthieu
  • Monitor statutory requirements, obligations, and compliance
  • Complete recurring analyses (month-to-month variance analysis, account balance review)
  • Track and analyze payroll costs in conjunction with Beatriz, our Head of People
  • Carry out poolside financial operations (bill and payroll payments, cash monitoring, and cash management)
  • Support strategic initiatives and FP&A activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • A previous experience in deep tech, software or infrastructure industries is a plus
  • A basic knowledge of French GAAP is a plus
