Requirements
- Experience: At least 10+ years of corporate legal practice, including experience as an in-house attorney, serving as a General Counsel and/or in another senior in-house legal role and 3+ years of law firm training
- Specialized Expertise: Deep experience advising FinTech companies and other financial services firms on navigating the evolving regulatory landscape, with a focus on enabling innovation and managing risk
- Demonstrated legal expertise in the following areas: Counseling on federal and state banking and financial services laws as they apply to digital banking, deposits, lending, and payments products
- Advising on licensing, registration, and compliance obligations for FinTech firms, including money transmitter licenses, lending licenses, and other state-specific frameworks
- Counseling on anti-money laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and OFAC compliance in the context of technology-enabled financial services
- Advising on data privacy and cybersecurity obligations under GLBA, state privacy laws, and other emerging data security frameworks
- Counseling on payment systems, electronic funds transfer regulations, and card program compliance (e.g., Reg E, FedNow, NACHA rules)
- Counseling on both consumer & commercial deposit systems, products, and regulatory compliance (e.g. Reg D, Reg DD, Reg CC)
- Advising on digital assets, blockchain solutions, and the emerging federal and state regulatory landscape for these technologies
- Representing FinTech and financial services firms in regulatory investigations, examinations, and enforcement matters
- Supporting clients in M&A, joint ventures, and other corporate transactions involving FinTech and technology-driven financial services businesses
- Advising on marketing and advertising compliance, including fair lending, UDAAP, and consumer & commercial protection considerations
- Collaborating with in-house legal, compliance, and technology teams to develop policies, design innovative products, and strengthen internal controls
- Substantive legal experience as a broad corporate generalist
- Demonstrated success as a practical, business-focused, and responsive legal partner
- J.D. from a nationally accredited law school
- State bar membership in state where reside/practice
