Summary
Join International Dairy Queen Inc. (IDQ) as a Franchise Developer in Western Canada! This remote position with travel involves driving new store growth, focusing on sales, recruitment, and real estate for site selection. You will be the primary contact for developing candidates, from initial stages to store opening. Key responsibilities include market planning, prioritizing development opportunities, recruiting franchise candidates (especially those with multi-unit capabilities), and assisting with site selection. You will manage franchisee expectations, ensure effective communication, and direct the workflow of new development projects. This role requires strong relationship-building, communication, and analytical skills.
Requirements
- Bachelors’ Degree in business administration or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Must have 5+ years of prior Franchise Development experience that includes franchise recruitment and franchise site selection responsibility
- Experience working within a QSR franchisor organization with freestanding drive thru locations. Strong knowledge of the QSR industry
- Experience with selling / recruitment with capability of gaining commitments and providing guidance to candidates
- Relationship building skills with the ability to create mutually beneficial relationships with both internal and external clients
- Ability to assess expectations and gain prompt commitments
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate opportunities to various audiences
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects and requests simultaneously, within an intense, deadline-driven environment
- Well organized with a high attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients
- Ability to work quickly in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
- Strong knowledge and familiarity with the Restaurant Industry and multi unit Franchise community
Responsibilities
- Determine optimal markets and trade areas for development
- Prioritize opportunities to maximize sales penetration and development results
- Establish relationships with existing Franchisees and Operations department to effectively recruit for additional restaurant growth
- Work with Director of Franchise Sales and Development to effectively recruit and gain commitment from new franchise candidates for growth within the DQ system. Focus on Multi-Unit capable candidates is essential for year on year growth
- Real Estate and site selection for ARD and NRD candidates for new store growth. Assist Franchisee or Candidate in the timely and effective identification of sites that are strategically positioned to optimize store performance and to meet company development goals
- Effectively manage Franchisee expectations and necessary project timelines to meet departmental goals
- Ensure effective and professional communications occur between the Franchise Developer position and the Franchisees/ Candidates, the Operations team, and the ADQ Project Management teams
- Direct the workflow of new development projects from the field to the appropriate departments within the corporate administrative offices. Prepare project files for flow within the application and project management processes. Participate in and present projects in Development Review Committee meetings. Utilize market planning tools to prioritize activities and establish new store projects within a geographic region
Benefits
Most positions located out of our corporate office in Burlington, Ontario will work a hybrid work schedule where you will work 2 collaboration days a week. Additional in office time may be required to support team/project needs. Positions will be identified as “remote eligible” when consideration will be given to candidates outside of drivable distance to our Burlington, Ontario office
