Summary

Join Key Capture Energy as a GIS Developer Intern this summer! This temporary position, reporting to the Director of GIS, offers invaluable experience in geospatial analysis and software development within the energy sector. You will leverage Python to automate workflows, support web development in ArcGIS Online, analyze geospatial datasets, and even work with machine learning in ArcGIS Pro. This internship provides exposure to site selection, map production, and cross-team collaboration. The ideal candidate possesses proficiency in Python and GIS software, along with at least one year of software development experience. The role requires strong time management and a passion for renewable energy.

Requirements

  • Required proficiency in Python and any GIS software (ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, GeoPandas, Leaflet)
  • At least one year of software development experience in a professional or academic setting
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver time-pressured projects punctually and with high quality
  • Passionate about the renewable energy space and confident in their work product
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors

Responsibilities

  • Script Development: Harness the power of Python to automate workflows for site selection, map production, landowner engagement, interconnection queue data mapping, rate assessments, and beyond
  • Support Lead GIS Analyst in ArcGIS online web development, Site Diligence and Desktop Analysis, Permitting, Project Layout Exhibits and Land Options
  • GIS Data Analysis: Dive into wide-ranging geospatial datasets encompassing land use, land ownership, environmental factors, and electrical transmission systems
  • Machine Learning: prepare, train, and run models within ArcGIS Pro related to advanced Satellite Imagery Analysis and site selection
  • Engage in cross-team collaboration to support Key Capture Energy’s development and commercial pipeline
  • Assist team and project leads as directed
  • Interact effectively in-person, by electronic communication and by telephone
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Contribute to a positive work environment
  • Perform other duties as required
