Head of Global Mobility

Summary

Join OpenAI's People Compliance team as a strategic leader for global mobility and immigration programs. You will oversee global immigration, relocation, and tax compliance initiatives, supporting recruiting, retention, and growth. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing global mobility programs, advising stakeholders on mobility policies, collaborating with finance, legal, and tax teams, developing vendor management practices, and spearheading the evolution of the company's global immigration strategy. This role requires 10+ years of experience in global mobility, immigration, and tax compliance, including at least 3 years in a managerial role. The position is based in our Mission Bay, San Francisco office or remotely in the US, utilizing a hybrid work model.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in global mobility, immigration, and tax compliance, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role
• Proven experience managing mobility, immigration programs, with a strong focus on effectively overseeing vendor relationships to ensure service quality, compliance, and excellent employee experience
• In-depth knowledge of global immigration laws, relocation processes, and international tax compliance
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Excellent communication, consultation, and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
• High attention to detail and commitment to compliance

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and strategic implementation of comprehensive global mobility programs and policies, including complex relocations, international transfers, and assignments, to help drive business growth and enhance the overall employee experience
• Serve as a trusted advisor to recruiters, managers, and employees, providing expert guidance on mobility policies, relocation packages, and comprehensive transition support
• Collaborate closely with senior leadership in finance, legal, and tax teams to ensure seamless payroll and tax compliance
• Develop and maintain robust vendor management practices to optimize global mobility processes and ensure effective partnerships with external vendors
• Spearhead the evolution of the company's global immigration strategy, collaborating with the team to execute initiatives that ensure robust compliance with all applicable regulations and laws and alignment with broader business objectives
• Proactively monitor and anticipate changes in global immigration policies, implementing strategic updates to company practices to mitigate risks and maintain compliance
