Summary

Join Study Group Digital Learning as the Head of Program English for a fixed-term contract (January 2025 – November 2025) in Brighton. Lead the Program English team, including line management of curriculum leaders. Contribute to excellent student outcomes, quality assurance, and curriculum innovation. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in English literature or English Language
  • Relevant Teaching qualification
  • Training in teaching English Language to international students
  • Experience providing leadership in a complex multi-disciplinary environment, with evidence of success
  • Experience in teaching English literature or English language in high school, further education or pathway education settings
  • Experience providing feedback to another person about their performance, which achieved a positive improvement
  • Experience in HR duties, such as delivering training and taking part in the recruitment process
  • Ability to delegate activities, set deadlines and take responsibility for overseeing their successful completion to meet challenging deadlines
  • Experience in successfully leading on internal communication, which includes disseminating complex messages or changes to operations
  • Experience working with international students and an understanding of welfare, well-being and cultural issues which may arise
  • Experience in data management and interpretation, and quality assurance
  • Experience working across, up and down an organisation as well as with external partners and both national and international stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the Program English team including line management of the Program Curriculum Leader - English language and Program Curriculum Leader – English Reading and Writing College Board SATs
  • Contribute to the delivery of excellent student outcomes; quality assurance and enhancement and curriculum innovation with strong collaborative working
  • Help design the Program modules, teaching resources, and assessments, and work to achieve Study Group’s strategic vision of being a global leader in international education
  • Contribute to Study Group strategic vision and growth through development of the Program
  • Communicate our vision to drive forward continuous improvement in the Program English modules to achieve the aspirational targets for student outcomes
  • Contribute to planning and development including human resources; academic development; learning, teaching, and assessment; and academic quality assurance and enhancement, in the Program English modules
  • Participate in Program meetings and events as required
  • Identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats and identify appropriate actions to solve problems and enhance delivery within the Program and English modules
  • Line Manage Program Curriculum Leaders
  • Provide effective and efficient academic management and co-ordination of Program English staff resources
  • Ensure the recruitment of staff is planned, timely and compliant
  • Ensure that the Program English team meet all minimum expectations/compliance in their duties and provide feedback on their performance
  • Take responsibility for academic standards, the quality of learning opportunities, the accuracy and completeness of published information in the Program English modules
  • Oversee the effective operation of the Program English modules
  • Oversee English modules’ student tracking and data analytics and ensure quality of feedback to students
  • Contribute to analysing data and feedback from the Program English modules
  • Contribute to reports, analysis and evaluation for all internal and external scrutiny processes as directed by the Program Director
  • Gather and report feedback from Program English tutors for action
  • Contribute to delivering the Program English modules effectively and efficiently, including teaching up to 10 hours per week
  • Work closely with the Program team to ensure that students at risk are being provided with appropriate support and, where required, timely intervention
  • Contribute to the delivery and assessment of provision
  • Support a cost-conscious working environment, at the same time as delivering a quality service and experience to students you are responsible for
  • Contribute to ensuring that the Centres are compliant in relation to Safeguarding responsibilities and that staff in the Program are aware of their obligations and requirements
  • Build relationships within the organisation and beyond
  • Develop close and effective working relations with the Program team and Program partners

Preferred Qualifications

  • A master’s or higher degree is desirable
  • Training or experience of English to international students
  • Significant teaching experience within high school, further education or pathway education settings
  • Experience in leading, advising or supporting others to develop curricula
  • Experience in teaching online and effectively utilising digital learning tools

Benefits

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum
