Join Eurostar, Europe's leading high-speed rail company, as their Head of Sustainability to spearhead their transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030. This strategic role demands the development and implementation of a comprehensive sustainability strategy, aligning environmental objectives with the company's business vision. You will be pivotal in reducing Eurostar's carbon footprint, improving waste management, and enhancing energy efficiency. The position requires collaboration with internal teams, shareholders, and external partners to ensure commitment to the sustainability strategy. Furthermore, you will manage the Sustainability Team and lead the Sustainability Steering Committee. This role offers a chance to make a significant impact on sustainable mobility in Europe.
Requirements
- Experience: 5 to 10 years in a managerial role in the sustainability function (ESG) within a large organization. Experience in the transport or energy sector is a plus
- Leadership: Experience in managing teams and working with internal and external stakeholders
- Sustainability skills: In-depth knowledge of European and UK environmental regulations as well as corporate sustainability policies
- Analytical skills: Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills to drive sustainability decisions
- Communication: Proven skills to communicate in a compelling and inspiring manner at all levels, in both French and English
- Mobility: Availability for travel in Belgium, the United Kingdom and France
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the sustainability strategy: Lead the transition to renewable energy and set clear targets to reduce the group's carbon footprint
- Align strategy with business objectives: Ensure that sustainability initiatives support the Eurostar Group's growth ambition, including the target of 30 million passengers by 2030
- Implement performance indicators: Track progress through KPIs and concrete programs to reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, and achieve sustainability goals
- Engage internal and external stakeholders: Work with internal teams, shareholders, and partners to ensure commitment to the sustainability strategy
- Ensure clear and effective communication: Promote sustainability strategy and initiatives internally and externally to strengthen the brand image and satisfy environmentally conscious customers
- Manage the Sustainability Team: Lead and coach the dedicated sustainability teams and lead the Sustainability Steering Committee within the group
Preferred Qualifications
Languages: Fluency in French and in English. Dutch is a plus
