Summary
Join Instrumental as an Integration Engineer and be responsible for implementing and maintaining mission-critical integrations between Instrumental's platform and customer manufacturing systems. You will work directly with global manufacturers, ensuring seamless integration into their production environments while meeting stringent reliability and performance requirements. This role requires strong Python and Javascript programming skills, experience with APIs, and proficiency in Linux and networking tools. The position is full-time and offers work-from-home flexibility. You will write clean, performant, and maintainable integration code, juggling multiple client projects and debugging factory floor issues remotely. Success in this role requires close collaboration with the project management team to prioritize tasks and meet customer production schedules.
Requirements
- At least 6+ YOE in QA related positions
- Strong Python programming skills with a focus on integration development
- Experience building and consuming APIs
- Proficiency with Javascript
- Version control with Git
- Proficient with Linux command line and shell scripting
- Strong command of networking tools and debugging utilities
- Network diagnostics (tcpdump, Wireshark)
- System networking (ip, ifconfig, route)
- Connection testing (ping, traceroute, netstat)
- DNS troubleshooting (dig, nslookup)
- Experience with common network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, WebSocket)
- Experience with logging platforms (e.g., Datadog, ELK Stack)
- Proficiency in log analysis and system debugging
- Ability to debug issues across network, system, and application layers
- Experience with performance monitoring and optimization
Responsibilities
- Own the integration points on the factory floor
- Write clean, performant, maintainable integration code that directly integrates Instrumental's platform with customer systems
- Juggle multiple client projects simultaneously while debugging factory floor issues remotely
- Work closely with the project management team to reassess priorities while ensuring we meet our customer's production schedules
Preferred Qualifications
- Track record of successful customer-facing technical implementations
- Experience with manufacturing systems or industrial automation
- Knowledge of common manufacturing protocols (e.g., MQTT, OPC-UA)
- Experience with containerization and deployment automation
- Background in high-reliability system integration
- Track record of maintaining mission-critical systems
