Summary
Join nDreams Studio Elevation, a leading VR studio, as a Junior Technical Designer to contribute to the creation of innovative VR games. You will design and implement game features using Unreal Engine blueprints, debug and optimize game systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. This 12-month, full-time, fully remote (UK-based) contract offers a competitive salary. The role involves rapid prototyping, iterative development, and creating clear documentation. Requirements
- Basic scripting skills using Unreal Engineโs Blueprints
- Understanding of Unreal Engineโs feature set and game framework
- Knowledge in one or more areas of technical design, such as UI design, network replication, AI behaviour, player control, interactions, etc
- Ability to debug issues with blueprint systems using visual tools
- Basic understanding of 3D mathematics for gameplay scripting
- Good communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical staff
- The ability to prototype ideas in a fail-fast environment
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and implementing game features using blueprints
- Help debug and resolve issues with game functionality
- Support the optimization of game systems for performant operation on diverse platforms
- Participate in rapid prototyping to quickly realize and iterate on game concepts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with programmers, artists, and other designers to ensure cohesive and high-quality game features
- Create and maintain documentation: Write clear and concise documentation for features and systems implemented, including diagrams and visual aids
- Seek regular feedback from stakeholders and experts to refine and improve game features
- Act independently to balance conflicting priorities and escalate issues or blockers promptly
Preferred Qualifications
- Some experience in technical design within the games industry, ideally having worked on at least one title released on a current-generation console, PC, VR headset, or mobile
- Experience with Unreal Engine 4 or 5 projects at a professional level
