The ideal candidate possesses a strong track record in rural asset management and team leadership, along with relevant qualifications and experience.

Requirements

  • Relevant undergraduate / post graduate degree or equivalent
  • MRICS qualified (5+ years PQE) with experience managing a portfolio of rural assets
  • Team leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate, manage, delegate and supervise effectively
  • Experience of defining team level budgets and deploying resources effectively and profitably
  • Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding project-based targets
  • Results-driven with a focus on achieving and exceeding business goals
  • Full UK Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the land team across the portfolio to meet the emerging needs of both the compliance (BNG) and global voluntary markets
  • Support with the development and implementation of strategies that support the Business Plan and contribute as a core member of the Senior Management Team as a critical decision maker
  • Drive the direction of our commercial offerings to a range of landowning stakeholders
  • Seek to broaden our model in order to access landowners and occupiers where there are specific needs for certain land use types and geographies
  • Manage and mentor a team of land specialists (including land agents, land managers and habitat delivery project managers) responsible for the growth, diversification and establishment of our land portfolio of high integrity Habitat Banks
  • Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development of team members to ensure high-quality service delivery and position the business as the high-integrity market proposition
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that promotes continuous learning and growth
  • Effectively set, manage and report the Land Team annual budget
  • Through our lease model, land purchase or alternative land acquisition models that align with our business imperatives, you will be responsible for scaling our portfolio of Habitat Banks across England
  • You will oversee the efficient resourcing, onboarding, planning, design, execution, and lifetime monitoring/reporting (alongside the Ecology Director) of a portfolio of high-integrity habitat banks. This will include ensuring that the team are on target to deliver the Business Plan land-based targets of acquiring at least 20 new sites annually
  • In partnership with the Ecology Director, collaborate with external stakeholders and partners to expedite and implement nature recovery projects as needed to meet market needs, including for specialist habitat bank delivery (e.g. for dedicated river restoration projects)
  • Through close working relationships with the Sales and Land Planning Group (SLPG), ensure that the land portfolio grows to meet the evolving demands of the market in terms of location, scale and composition

Preferred Qualifications

  • CAAV/SAAVA membership/qualification an advantage
  • An entrepreneurial, creative approach to problem solving with an aspiration to grow the profile and performance of the business as a whole
