Lead 3D Game Artist

Summary

Join Epoch Games, a volunteer-based, global game development team, as a 3D Art Manager for our upcoming indie RPG, The Lays of Althas: Sundered Order. This remote, volunteer position involves managing and reviewing the 3D work of a team of artists, ensuring high-quality assets. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential, as is experience with PBR, low-poly modeling, and texturing. While no monetary compensation or work visas are offered, this is a great opportunity to contribute to an exciting project and gain valuable experience in game development. The position requires spare-time commitment and fluency in English. We are using free or previously licensed software, and we can help provide software if needed.

Requirements

• Possess good communication and team-collaboration skills
• Have the ability to manage others, especially 3D Game Artists
• Be able to work with and provide constructive criticism and feedback to 3D Models and Textures
• Have knowledge of Physically-based Rendering (PBR) experience for game modeling/sculpting
• Have knowledge of working with low-poly/game-ready assets
• Have knowledge of Texturing (Diffuse, Normal, Displacement etc)
• Have a passion for game development
• Be fluent in English

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of 3D artists
• Review the 3D work of other artists
• Ensure high-quality, textured 3D assets are created
• Communicate clearly and effectively with team members
• Follow team policies
• Attend meetings through Slack

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in Autodesk 3DS Max / Maya
• Proficiency in Blender
• Proficiency in Pixologic ZBrush / Mudbox
• Proficiency in Photoshop (CS4 and up)
• Proficiency in GIMP
• Experience with Unreal Engine
