Summary

Join Hinge, the dating app focused on fostering meaningful connections, as a Lead Product Designer, Accessibility. You will play a key role in making our app fully inclusive and accessible to all users. This is a 6-month contract position with the potential to renew. You will design accessible features, collaborate with engineers, build accessibility documentation, lead training programs, and conduct design system audits. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in product and mobile design, with a focus on accessibility. A competitive hourly rate is offered.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product design experience, including 2–3 years in mobile design
  • Proficiency in Figma, with experience in high-fidelity prototyping and component libraries
  • 2+ years in an accessibility-focused role
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG guidelines, assistive technologies (e.g., VoiceOver, TalkBack), and accessibility standards for native mobile platforms
  • Experience leading training programs or workshops on accessibility best practices
  • Experience collaborating with engineers to build mobile features that interact with assistive technologies
  • Hands-on experience auditing and working with design systems for accessibility
  • Serve as the team’s subject matter expert in accessibility, bringing deep expertise to ensure we meet the highest standards and best practices

Responsibilities

  • Design and advise on interactions between new features and assistive technologies, such as screen readers and voice controls
  • Collaborate with engineers to resolve accessibility bugs, ensuring efficient fixes and unblocking progress
  • Build and maintain evergreen documentation and processes to make accessibility practices scalable
  • Lead mentorship and training programs to upskill designers on accessibility standards
  • Conduct a thorough audit of Hinge’s design system component library, ensuring compliance with WCAG standards
  • Support teams as they prioritize accessibility in the product development lifecycle
  • Support co-design efforts to better address the unique challenges faced by daters with disabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accessibility certifications such as CPACC or WAS
  • Experience conducting usability testing with users with disabilities and applying insights to design decisions
  • Familiarity with coding languages (HTML, CSS, ARIA) to facilitate accessibility discussions with developers

Benefits

$140 - $165 an hour
