Summary
Join the Raspberry Pi Foundation as a Learning Manager in South Africa (remote, contractor position, 12 months with possible extension) to develop and deliver learning experiences, content, resources, and training for educational programs and products. Collaborate with UK and Kenya teams to design curriculum sequences for multiple grades, adapt existing materials for South African learners, and lead the Approved Trainer initiative. Build relationships with curriculum officials and NGOs. The ideal candidate will have a computer science or related qualification, a teaching qualification or significant teaching experience, and experience designing and delivering training in South Africa. The role requires comfort with various hardware and software and a willingness to learn. The Foundation offers a flexible and collaborative work environment.
Requirements
- A thorough understanding of computing, with a suitable qualification in computer science or a related subject
- A teaching qualification, or significant experience of teaching computing or a related subject
- Experience designing synchronous and/or asynchronous training experiences for adult educators
- Experience of delivering high quality learning experiences, content, resources, or training in South African schools
- Comfortable with a broad range of technologies, including hardware and software platforms, and the ability and willingness to learn new technologies as required
- An understanding of computing pedagogy within formal education and non-formal learning
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues and external partners
- Willingness to travel within South Africa and to the UK and Kenya if required
- A commitment to the Foundation's mission and values, including on diversity, equity, and inclusion
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver learning experiences, content, resources, and training for the Foundation's educational programmes and products
- Ensure that learning experiences, content, resources, and training reflect evidence-based pedagogy and the Foundation's agreed approaches to teaching and learning across formal education and non-formal learning
- Lead the Approved Trainer initiative in South Africa, building and quality assuring a network of community trainers
- Contribute to the development of the Foundation's teaching and learning approaches. Actively engage with research and best practice, and identify areas for improvement and innovation
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation and external partners
- Engage positively with the Foundation's systems for quality assurance, including in relation to agreed policies for inclusion and accessibility
- Proactively utilise user feedback and data to drive improvement
- Represent the Raspberry Pi Foundation to external audiences and stakeholders as required
- Contribute to the Foundation's thought leadership through writing articles and blogs, public speaking, and contributing to research and evaluation
Benefits
Salary: 441,000 - 513,000 ZAR per annum full-time equivalent, dependent on experience
