Summary

Join Samsara's AI team as a Manager II of Machine Learning Engineering and lead teams building end-to-end machine learning and computer vision solutions. You will manage engineers developing ML infrastructure for hybrid cloud-edge AI products, drive long-term planning, contribute to the AI roadmap, and stay current with industry research. This fully remote US and Canada-based role requires managing a high-performing team, hiring talent, and championing Samsara's values. Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or other technical degree
• 5+ years of relevant technical experience with ML infrastructure
• 4+ years of relevant software engineering work experience
• 2+ years of experience managing software and science teams including senior ICs
• Experience building and deploying large-scale machine learning systems with feedback loops for continuous improvement
• Comfortable managing infrastructure development in collaboration with scientists and researchers

Responsibilities

• Manage teams of engineers building ML infrastructure to scale our hybrid cloud-edge AI products
• Help drive long-term planning and establish scalable processes for execution
• Actively contribute to building the roadmap for AI at Samsara
• Stay connected to industry and academic research and adopt novel technology that suits Samsara’s needs
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s Values (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
• Hire, develop, and manage an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team

Preferred Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Computer Science or other technical degree
• Experience with state-of-art training frameworks, inference frameworks, and build tooling
• Experience building, deploying, and optimizing ML infrastructure that spans edge devices and the cloud
• Proven track record for innovation and delivering value to customers
• Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional consensus and drive cross-team collaboration
