Join Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA) as the Manager, National Youth Voice, a two-year fellowship position! This remote role focuses on managing the National Youth Leadership Council, amplifying youth voices nationally. You will oversee council development, recruitment, and activities, serving as a liaison to agency leaders. Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of relevant experience in youth development programs, youth leadership, or youth social-emotional development AND 3+ years of relevant experience in project management, or related areas
- Experience managing programs that empower youth and young adults as co-designers and advocates
- Experience with managing and facilitating youth-led experiences (webinars, listening sessions processes, etc.) and maintaining alignment with organizational priorities and deadlines
- Consistent record in managing complex issues with various stakeholders to desired outcome
- Ability to be solutions-focused and proactive in managing complex projects and sensitive stakeholder relationships
- Demonstrates initiative, creativity and innovation
- Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to develop trusting relationships in a remote environment
- Highly organized in approach, with ability to set and manage priorities
- Advanced proficiency in desktop software, including Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google docs
- Ability to work independently and remotely in achieving results consistently on deadline

Responsibilities
- Oversee the development, administration, strategic direction and coordination of the National Youth Council
- Manage recruitment, applications, and selection of Youth Council members
- Support National Youth Council members and facilitate connections and opportunities that will develop them as leaders into their future
- Establish and monitor learning and personal development outcomes for youth participants
- Serve as a liaison to agency leaders across the BBBS network to build awareness, facilitate recruitment processes, select and offer ongoing support to Youth Council members
- Establish and maintain strong positive developmentally appropriate relationships with youth and young adults in alignment with the youth safety policies and best practices of BBBSA
- Coordinate all logistical details and facilitate virtual and in-person activities related to the National Youth Council
- Develop service-learning projects and/or programs for youth to be actively involved in, make sure projects or programs are well running, and goals are met
- Assist youth in designing and implementing listening sessions and other events that engage a cross-section of youth
- Prepare materials (e.g., fact sheets, overviews) to communicate the Youth Council’s purpose and impact to stakeholders
- Manage the Youth Council’s budget in collaboration with the Director, Program Development & Scale
- Works in partnership with various BBBSA departments to design and vet activities that include youth and young adults to ensure youth protection standards and best practices are maintained
- Provide training and guidance to BBBSA staff on applicable policies and best practices around youth engagement
- Serve as an internal and external resource on youth voice and youth engagement, including developing materials, maintaining and organizational knowledge base, and responding to questions from staff and agencies
- Coordinate and support convenings that elevate youth voice, including leadership training and workshops during the National Conference and listening sessions that specifically engage a diverse set of youth and young adults from across the BBBSA network
- Design and organize panel discussions that elevate youth voice across the network, incorporate youth as panelists where appropriate in BBBSA workshops and thought leadership opportunities, and build awareness of the needs, concerns and aspirations of youth and young adults (BBBS Littles)
- Attend and support internal and external convenings, learning circles and other partnership events that increase awareness of and build our network’s capacity to incorporate youth voice
- Manages related and other duties as assigned in support of department and business needs
- Lead planning, logistics, staff, vendors and agency relationships for Youth Council members and other events related to youth voice
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Youth Council members as they participate in activation events, speaking engagements, fundraising, advocacy or other BBBSA youth voice events to ensure they receive timely, relevant information in advance of all activities; and provide support for logistics and individual youth council member preparation for their roles
- Maintain best practices in youth safety and liability policies of BBBSA
- Present with youth at local and national events, accompanying and chaperoning them, including following policies and procedures regarding youth travel
- Coordinate and manage relationships between other departments within BBBSA particularly its Communications and Resource Development teams in all matter related to engaging Youth Council members as influencers, thought leaders, or otherwise, and alongside the CEO and BBBSA Board of Directors
- Compile summary information on progress, provide briefings and other updates to team members and stakeholders within BBBSA and as directed, across the network and with other key partners
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate program notes, records and related information about Youth Council and related youth voice efforts
- Work in partnership with the data and insights group and others in the Program and Impact department to evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the Youth Council and related youth voice efforts

- Provide consistent follow-up regarding assigned projects and after meetings
