Summary

Join the American Humane Society (AHS) as a Manager, Strategic Partnerships to develop alliances and collaborations that expand AHS's third-party animal welfare audit programs. This hybrid position, based in the DC office or remotely, reports to the Vice President, Strategic Partnerships. You will identify, cultivate, and secure new business within various industries aligning with AHS's certification programs. A key role involves developing and implementing outreach strategies for program growth. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and external partners to achieve ambitious growth goals. You will also represent AHS at industry events and ensure program materials are up-to-date.

Requirements

  • Diversity of marketing and sales experience in some or all of the following fields: animal health and welfare, agriculture industry (including allied groups), restaurant/food supply chain, retail, hospitality
  • Bachelor’s degree, minimum 5 years of proven, successful business development/sales experience
  • Demonstrates a growth mentality and hunger and drive to achieve or exceed goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; active listening
  • Adept at building collaborative relationships and demonstrating diplomacy with diverse constituencies
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective and timely solutions
  • Ability to collaborate with team members to implement annual program goals
  • Possesses client service attitude and ability to think on feet as well as maintain positive demeanor at all times
  • Exhibits sound judgement, discretion, and professionalism
  • Adept at quickly learning new software and technologies
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Develop alliances and collaborations that expand American Humane Society’s third-party animal welfare audit programs (Farms, Zoos & Aquariums, Ecotourism, and Companion Animals)
  • Identify, cultivate, and secure new business within industries that align with the certification programs, including (but not limited to) farms, ranches, retail, food service operations, pet food, aquaculture, zoos, aquariums, and hospitality
  • Develop and implement outreach strategy as it relates to growth across American Humane Society’s certification programs and in alignment with the strategic plan
  • Work collaboratively with Communications, Marketing and Development teams to develop and implement a strategic outreach plan to grow certification programs
  • Work collaboratively with Program Director(s) and VP, Strategic Partnerships to set and meet ambitious growth goals for achieving program expansion
  • Create opportunities for national and international spokespersons for the program, reflecting the mission and values of American Humane Society
  • Work to differentiate American Humane Society and our certification program from other animal welfare organizations and certification programs
  • Identify and attend annual trade shows, conferences, and industry meetings to maximize opportunities to meet influential people and companies
  • Ensure that all program and informational materials, trade show graphics and displays, and websites are up to date and reflective of program standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and/or knowledge of product certification process preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, advanced degree preferred
  • Experience negotiating contracts strongly preferred

Benefits

Compensation: $80,000-$100,000
