Join KAYAK, a leading travel search engine, as a Freelance Market Specialist for the Swedish market! This role blends product marketing strategy with linguistic expertise to enhance KAYAK's messaging and localization. You will develop user-friendly messaging, collaborate with cross-functional teams, audit existing content, and conduct market research. Furthermore, you'll ensure high-quality translations, provide feedback to translators, and evaluate machine-translated content. This position requires strong writing, communication, and proofreading skills, along with cultural understanding and experience in product marketing and translation. Ideally, you'll be based in Sweden to stay abreast of local marketing trends.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 year experience in product marketing, product copywriting, or a related field
• Proven experience as a translator, reviewer, or similar role
• Native-level proficiency in Swedish and excellent command of English
• Strong writing, communication, and proofreading skills with an attention to detail
• Strong understanding of cultural nuances and ability to adapt content accordingly
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine concise, user-friendly messaging for KAYAK’s features and unique selling propositions (USPs)
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create a unified product positioning and messaging framework
• Audit and update existing product messaging to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with KAYAK’s brand strategy
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis
• Review, proofread, and resolve linguistic issues in translations to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to guidelines
• Ensure all translations meet the brand's quality standards and are culturally appropriate for the target audience
• Provide feedback to translators and collaborate in maintaining language-specific style guides and glossaries
• Evaluate the quality of Machine Translation (MT) or AI-generated content, and fully localize the content to improve the user engagement

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with CAT tools
• Understanding of the challenges and considerations when working with MT or AI-generated content
• Ideally based in the local market to stay on top of the local marketing trends
