Summary

Join Empowered, a social entrepreneur community, as their Marketing Director to lead brand growth and execute dynamic marketing strategies. You will craft and execute strategies to amplify Empowered's voice, grow its digital presence, and ignite a movement among educators. As the lead steward of the brand, you'll guide its look, feel, and tone, launching innovative campaigns. This role requires a strategic thinker and relentless experimenter who thrives on turning bold ideas into measurable impact. You will lead cross-channel efforts, uncover growth opportunities, and elevate Empowered as a go-to resource for transforming education. This is a remote-friendly position with regular travel to Wichita, KS required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field; Master's preferred
  • 10+ years in brand management/marketing with a track record of driving growth
  • Experience developing and executing successful multi-channel campaigns
  • Strong understanding of brand strategy and marketing principles
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Analytical, data-driven, entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Creative thinker with a passion for brand-building
  • Experience in the education industry, community-based work, or nonprofit growth

Responsibilities

  • Strengthening our Brand
  • Elevate Empowered’s brand recognition and cultural relevance by developing and executing brand growth strategies aligned with business goals and market insights
  • Lead the creative development and application of Empowered’s brand standards with consistent messaging, positioning, look and feel, brand equity, etc
  • Identify new opportunities through Stand Together and their external partnerships to expand our target audience awareness

  • Transforming how we market
  • Design and execute next-level campaigns that are woven into the cultural fabric and speak to the values, motivations, and evolving needs of teachers
  • Galvanize our social media strategy and execution, which includes producing or curating content that ties to what educators value — practical strategies, inspiration, and thought leadership — while inviting them to connect more deeply with Empowered
  • Develop an innovative community of marketing partners that extend our go-to-market capabilities
  • Establish a storytelling capability that consistently highlights the significant impact happening throughout Empowered’s educator community
  • Solidify a marketing operations model
  • Supervise a team that has an internal agency approach to supporting eye-catching and mission-aligned collateral for educator resources, educator communications, and donor communications
  • Oversee the stewardship of our marketing financial plan – including established vendor partner arrangements and develop a brand growth financial plan for general promotion, ensuring optimal resource allocation and ROI
  • Influence the swag, giveaways, and merchandise items used at educator conferences and in our online store — helping ensure every touchpoint reflects Empowered’s spirit and mission
  • Collaborate internally to conduct market research and competitive analysis, using data to establish/ensure brand value and inform decisions
  • Ensure Empowered staff connect to the marketing team’s vision by elevating the marketing knowledge across the organization

  • Experience in K-12 education field
  • Purpose-driven leadership that sees marketing as a vehicle to empower others, not just promote a brand
  • A love for translating vision into strategy — and strategy into content that sparks action
  • A deep understanding of the power of storytelling and how to bring clarity and heart to a message
