Summary
Join Brave Health as a full-time, remote Medical Assistant (MA) supporting psychiatric providers. You will play a crucial role in patient care, managing tasks such as prior authorizations, medication refills, lab coordination, and side effect management. This position requires both patient-facing responsibilities and backend administrative support, working under the Clinical Administration Supervisor. The role is fully remote with an Eastern time zone schedule (Monday-Friday, 9 am to 6 pm). You will need to maintain a private workspace at home to protect patient information. Requirements
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program with certification (CMA preferred)
- Knowledge of medical terminology, prior authorizations, and healthcare administration required
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and CRM tools such as Salesforce
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to both patients and providers
- Comfortable using technology and telehealth platforms to perform both clinical and administrative tasks with a strong typing/data input and search speed
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in workflow and responsibilities
- Ability to show experience being trusted with high accountability and viewed as a self starter
- Private workspace at home where you will not be interrupted in order to protect HIPAA/PHI and to protect patients and co-workers or other providers from seeing or hearing others in the background
Responsibilities
- Assist in ensuring that all prior authorization paperwork is accurately and timely completed, submitted, and tracked. Follow up on approvals and work with providers to manage denials and appeals
- Receive refill requests through multiple channels, notify providers, and ensure timely processing of refills. Contact pharmacies to confirm prescription availability as needed
- Collect and document patient-reported medication side effects, and relay this information to providers for timely action
- Assist with lab orders by securely emailing or faxing them to patients or the lab of their choice. Track and manage incoming lab results, ensuring they are uploaded to the EHR and notifying providers for review
- Coordinate logistics for genetic testing, ensuring that kits are sent to patients, tracking completion, and managing result processing in Braveโs EHR
- Act as the first point of contact for clinical escalations, gathering critical patient information and ensuring timely communication with providers. Prioritize escalations based on urgency and severity, ensuring swift resolution of patient issues while adhering to Brave Healthโs clinical protocols
- Maintain clear communication with patients regarding appointment needs, test results, and medication refills via phone and SMS
- Ensure proper documentation and timely updates of all patient interactions, including refill requests, lab orders, and side effect reports
- Collaborate with the scheduling team to ensure patients who require appointments for medication refills or follow-ups are scheduled in a timely manner
- Assist in tracking the completion of all clinical workflows, ensuring adherence to Brave Healthโs protocols and timelines
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in mental health or psychiatry, is a strong plus
