Summary
Join New Era Technology as a Senior Network Engineer, contributing to a strategic network security initiative. You will review and document existing DMZ connectivity, clean up outdated configurations, and prepare the environment for a new Palo Alto firewall architecture. This role requires strong experience in DMZ infrastructure, BGP/static routing, and firewall integration. You will collaborate with the firewall engineering team, ensure seamless policy migration, and maintain detailed documentation. Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in network engineering with a focus on routing and firewall environments
- Must have prior Pharmaceutical industry experience
- Strong hands-on experience with BGP, static routing, and Cisco or Juniper switch configurations
- Familiarity with DMZ network design, network segmentation, and perimeter security principles
- Knowledge of Checkpoint and Palo Alto
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Comfortable working after hours or weekends during cutover events
- Regular use of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
- Regular, repetitive movements such as typing, mouse movements, and scrolling. Ability to hear and understand spoken communications, both in person and via remote communication tools (e.g., phone, video conferencing)
- Ability to see and read computer screens and printed documents, as well as adjust focus. This includes prolonged periods of looking at a computer screen
- This is a remote US based position
- Must have previous pharmaceutical experience
Responsibilities
- Review and identify all existing DMZ network connectivity, including: BGP routing configurations and peerings
- Static routes implemented across DMZ routers and switches
- Layer 2/3 switch configurations supporting the DMZ zone
- Document current DMZ design, routing paths, and interdependencies across systems and services
- Collaborate with the firewall engineering team to: Identify and validate unused firewall rules
- Assist in cleanup of legacy and redundant rule sets
- Ensure seamless policy migration into the new Palo Alto architecture
- Remove obsolete static routes and deprecated configurations from DMZ switches to improve security posture and simplify operations
- Prepare network infrastructure to support the rollout of Palo Alto firewalls, including interface configurations, VRFs, and routing redistribution planning
- Validate connectivity post-migration and support troubleshooting as needed
- Maintain detailed documentation for routing tables, switch configurations, and firewall policies
- Ensure compliance with internal network and security standards, regulatory requirements, and change management processes
- Provide troubleshooting support during and after migration events
