Summary

Join our team at Roadside Lumber as an Outside Sales Representative and drive new business growth while maintaining strong relationships with custom home builders and contractors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of outside sales experience, preferably in the building materials industry - lumber, millwork, hardware, etc
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Deep understanding of the construction industry, particularly the needs and challenges of custom home builders and framers
  • Proficient in the use of CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand construction plans and blueprints is a plus
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently. Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory as needed

Responsibilities

  • Identify and target potential customers, including custom home builders and framers, to generate new sales opportunities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers to ensure satisfaction and repeat business
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to inform sales strategies
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of our truss products, manufacturing processes, and industry standards to effectively communicate benefits to customers
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals tailored to the specific needs of customers
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with customers to close sales and achieve revenue targets
  • Work closely with the production, engineering, and customer service teams to ensure customer requirements are met and projects are completed on time
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and pipeline status in the CRM system. Provide regular reports on sales performance and market feedback
  • Travel within the assigned territory to meet with customers, attend industry events, and represent the company
