Summary

Join Instrument, a remote-first digital product and brand experience agency, as a Contract Paralegal! This part-time (approximately 20 hours per week), temporary position offers the potential to become permanent. You will report to the CFO and collaborate with the agency's network attorney and internal teams. Your responsibilities include reviewing and summarizing contracts, analyzing contract language for risks, building and maintaining a contract database, collaborating cross-functionally, monitoring compliance, conducting legal research, and managing documents. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 3+ years of relevant experience, strong contract law understanding, and excellent communication and analytical skills. The pay range is $40-50/hr.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in a paralegal or legal assistant role, preferably with a focus on contract law
  • Strong understanding of contract law and legal terminology
  • Experience reviewing commercial agreements, including MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, and DPAs
  • Proficiency with document and contract management tools (e.g., Airtable, DocuSign, Dropbox, or other CMS)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate legalese into business language
  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills and ability to work independently

Responsibilities

  • Contract Review & Summary: Review and summarize redlines to MSAs, NDAs, SOWs, Data privacy, IT related,Β  and other client-related agreements; flag key issues, inconsistencies, and risks
  • Contract Analysis: Analyze contract language to identify legal risks, obligations, and deviations from standard terms
  • Database Creation & Maintenance: Build and maintain a structured contract database (ideally in Airtable or similar tools) that captures key clauses, negotiated exceptions, and client-specific nuances
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the Corporate office, network attorney and internal teams (Finance, Account Management, Production) to ensure alignment on contract terms and requirements
  • Compliance Monitoring: Track key dates and obligations to ensure ongoing compliance with executed agreements; raise issues proactively
  • Legal Research: Support contract review activities and ad hoc questions from within the agency with research into relevant legal standards and best practices
  • Document Management: Maintain well-organized records of executed contracts, correspondence, and related documentation

Experience working in a creative agency, media, or technology environment
