Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience supporting and providing education to patients, family members, and community groups affected by rare diseases
- Demonstrated communication skills, including ability to deliver and present both virtually and in person
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, professional communications, problem-solving, compassion and the ability to navigate difficult conversations
- Ability to translate scientific/medical information into patient-friendly language
- Desire to innovate and work in a fast-paced, energetic environment
- Self-starter who is highly passionate about rare disease
- Strong understanding of industry legal, regulatory, and compliance landscape
Responsibilities
- Identify and lead regional education efforts to provide disease-state and treatment education to patients, Caregivers, Care team members and community groups
- Engage with Patient Advocacy groups to impact education of Acadia product(s) for Rett syndrome
- Act as a commercial liaison on caregiver engagement across departments including Sales, Medical Affairs, Advocacy and Marketing
- Understands individual needs of patients and Caregivers and develops an appropriate education and resource plan of action
- Provides 1:1 education through virtual and in-person meetings
- Manages caregiver mentor program
- Executes educational programs in person through regional events and virtually through webinar events
- Interprets and translates scientific clinical data into patient-friendly language
- Moderates Caregiver Speaker programs coordinating all speakers: HCP, Family Access Manager and Caregiver Speakers
- Contributes to Caregiver Speaker program strategy, content exploration and development, speaker identification, selection and utilization
- Partners with Advocacy and sales team to identify opportunities for programs
- Act as lead for speaker development and feedback including coaching and point of contact for any speaker program issues and updates
- Support speaker program, webcast, and other key launch/marketing tactics
- Support marketing team on Caregiver advisory board planning with the identification, coordination and contracting of appropriate attendees
- Monitors Caregiver opinions and sentiment about current treatment patterns that may impact Acadia and provide feedback for consideration in the development of brand strategic plans
- Identifies and summarizes key insights from events
- Identifies educational gaps and insights that help inform the refinement and development of patient education resources
- Measures the impact of PEL marketing activities on a continual basis and adjusts course where appropriate
- Develops and delivers presentations as needed to commercial management and other internal groups
- Actively collaborates with Field Sales, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Marketing, Advocacy and other critical internal teams to increase disease-state awareness and early diagnosis
- Maintains disease-state and product expertise through continuing medical education and attendance at relevant symposia, conferences and other educational opportunities
- Ensures that all actions, both internally and externally working on Acadia’s behalf are in compliance with all laws regulations, policies and demonstrates Acadia values
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in healthcare field
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry
- Healthcare background and rare disease experience
- Prior experience in patient education, clinical setting, pharmacy or community health education
- Fluent in both English and Spanish
