Summary
Join a US-based accounting and advisory firm as a remote Accounting Manager based in the Philippines. This role focuses on process improvement, client troubleshooting, and team development, not transactional AP/AR tasks. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver, strong communicator, and mentor with a client-first approach. You will manage daily client communications, ensure accurate and compliant bookkeeping, oversee daily accounting tasks, prepare financial statements, conduct analyses, perform internal audits, and manage client projects. You will also mentor Philippine-based contractors and contribute to cross-functional projects. The position requires a minimum of 3+ years of hands-on accounting management experience.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3+ years hands-on Accounting Manager experience required (more is better)
- Proven experience managing multiple client accounts in a similar accounting/finance role
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Open to candidates with QuickBooks experience even if not certified
- IFRS experience (e.g., AU/UK) is acceptable in lieu of U.S. GAAP
- CPA or MBA not mandatory if the candidate has strong relevant experience
- Experience mentoring or managing team members with a non-hierarchical, learning-focused leadership style
- Comfort with ambiguity, ad hoc tasks, and process refinement
Responsibilities
- Manage daily client emails β respond promptly and professionally
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders
- Ensure all bookkeeping is accurate and compliant with client requirements
- Oversee daily accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and month-end close
- Prepare and review financial statements with variance analysis
- Conduct job costing analysis and review findings
- Perform internal audits and recommend solutions
- Manage and complete client-specific projects
- Act as a trusted financial partner for multiple clients by understanding their business models, vendors, and risk factors
- Lead and optimize accounting workflows to improve reporting accuracy and enhance the client experience
- Audit and mentor Philippine-based contractors
- Contribute to ad hoc, cross-functional projects, particularly those involving process improvements beyond finance
- Shadow the CEO during the initial 2-month onboarding period and maintain daily collaboration thereafter
