Requirements

  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems and enterprise applications
  • Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages for system management (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Ansible)
  • Knowledge of security best practices and regulatory requirements related to system and application management
  • Ability to guide, mentor, and support a team of engineers in best practices and problem-solving
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners
  • Commitment to optimizing processes, adopting new technologies, and driving efficiency
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in systems and applications engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role
  • Experience with enterprise operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux) and applications (e.g., databases, middleware, cloud services)
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL) and automation tools

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, and develop a team of engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and tools to succeed
  • Allocate resources effectively to meet business requirements and project deadlines
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation within the team
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support when needed
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of systems and applications
  • Oversee the development of integration code to meet defined requirements
  • Ensure system and application reliability, security, and performance in alignment with business needs
  • Manage software upgrades, patches, and lifecycle management activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system and application issues
  • Develop and enforce engineering best practices, including automation, documentation, and security protocols
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains
  • Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for system and application management
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, security, and business units, to align engineering practices with organizational objectives
  • Act as a key point of contact for escalations and critical incidents
  • Provide reports and insights on system performance, risks, and improvements to senior leadership
  • Ensure all systems and applications adhere to security policies, compliance regulations, and industry standards
  • Work with cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks and implement proactive security measures
  • Support audit and compliance activities as required
