Join Equality Now as a Program Officer, Digital Rights, working remotely within ±5 hours of the London timezone. This critical role within the Be Net Positive campaign focuses on ending technology-facilitated gender-based violence and online sexual exploitation and abuse, securing digital rights through the Alliance for Universal Digital Rights (AUDRi), and advancing research and advocacy to combat online misogyny. You will contribute to campaign implementation, manage grant deliverables, collaborate with the Global Lead and Impact Team, and develop thought leadership. The position requires strong legal and human rights expertise, particularly in digital rights and women's rights. Success will be measured by contributions to campaign goals, high-quality reporting, development of legal insights, strong partnerships, and effective legal contributions to advocacy efforts. Requirements
- Demonstrated contribution to the Be Net Positive campaign’s goals across all four ToC pathways
- High-quality, timely, and evidence-based reporting on grant deliverables and activities
- Development of legal and strategic insights that strengthen Equality Now’s digital rights advocacy
- Strong, respectful partnerships with clearly defined shared objectives and roles
- Effective legal contributions to national, regional, and international advocacy efforts
- Consistent, organized documentation and knowledge management across all workstreams
- Strong knowledge of gender equality, systemic discrimination, and how these intersect with other forms of oppression (e.g., race, class, disability, sexual orientation)
- Deep understanding of international and regional legal frameworks, including human rights treaties, digital rights protections, and standards governing online harms
- Familiarity with advocacy in an international NGO or legal context, especially relating to women's rights or technology-facilitated gender-based violence
- Excellent legal research and analytical writing skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into accessible language for advocacy, reports, and submissions
- Experience preparing advocacy communications, including letters to decision-makers, public statements, and legal submissions
- Comfortable engaging with diverse audiences, including community groups, policymakers, human rights bodies, and media
- Fluency in English is required; Spanish fluency is a strong advantage
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in program delivery, legal advocacy, or campaign implementation
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, track deliverables, and meet deadlines while working independently and collaboratively across global teams
- Skilled at partnership management and engaging stakeholders in mutual accountability, especially in cross-cultural environments
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain clear documentation and knowledge-sharing processes
- Law degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent) with a focus on human rights, digital rights, or technology law
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the successful achievement of campaign outcomes aligned with the Theory of Change (ToC)
- Manage assigned grant deliverables, ensuring timely, high-quality outputs within scope and budget
- Collaborate with the Global Lead and Impact Team to track, document, and share learning across interventions
- Develop thought leadership around core areas of work, collaborating with the AUDRi Coordinator and Communications Team
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the program database for assigned interventions
- Ensure internal campaign updates, documentation, and reporting are completed and shared in a timely manner
- Support context mapping and stakeholder analysis for the digital rights space in collaboration with the Global Lead and AUDRi Coordinator
- Strengthen relationships with allies, civil society organizations, and key influencers at local, national, and international levels
- Contribute to the development of clear and accountable partnerships aligned with our shared advocacy goals
- Prepare and submit legal documentation to international and regional human rights bodies
- Provide legal analysis and expertise on digital rights frameworks, with a preference for EU law experience
- Contribute to legal case development and documentation
- Draft key communications, advocacy letters, and messaging to influence policymakers and institutions
- Identify and act on opportunities to leverage regional and international law for strategic advocacy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EU legal frameworks related to digital rights, privacy, and online safety is highly desirable
- Prior engagement with international human rights mechanisms (e.g., UN treaty bodies, regional courts, special procedures)
- Familiarity with the technology-facilitated GBV landscape and the legal, social, and advocacy strategies for addressing online harms
- Understanding of digital platforms, accountability systems, and regulatory efforts impacting online misogyny and freedom of expression

- Salary for reference: $38,580 - $47,000 - Kenya, £40,149 - £50,186 - UK, $30,800 - $38,500 - Spain, $35,965 - $44,956 - Brazil (Level 2 position), dependent on location
