Summary
Join Hunger Free America as a Program Manager to oversee the delivery of social service apprenticeship programs, recruit and onboard staff, and promote program and recruit apprentices. The ideal candidate has management experience in workforce development projects, knowledge of civil service employment, and excellent communication skills.
Requirements
- Preference for candidates with three or more years of management experience in workforce development projects, including: recruiting, training, supervising, and or evaluating trainees; aiding the development of training curriculum; and/or creating or updating industry-recognized job preparedness certification standards
- Ideally, some knowledge of the various levels and branches of civil service employment (federal, state, and local) and the specific requirements for each, including knowledge of civil service classifications, job descriptions, and career advancement pathways within the public sector
- Experience managing programs spread out across various locations and involving both private and government partners is a plus
- Ideally a 4-year bachelorβs degree, or significant work experience and/or an associate degree in a relevant field
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills for a variety of audiences, including cross functional staff teams, corporations, apprentices, nonprofit leaders, and other external groups, including the ability to adjust communication as socially and culturally appropriate
- Proven ability to collaborate professionally and effectively with diverse stakeholders
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with non-profit and government partners to organize and deliver social service apprenticeship programs that align with apprentices' and project partners' needs and which meet all applicable rules and regulations
- Help recruit and onboard two Program Managers, one based in the Baltimore area and the other in the Chicago area
- Provide guidance and supervision to the two PMs, each of whom will be overseeing the day-to-day operations in their area
- Work collaboratively with local partners and Program Managers to help plan and design apprenticeship program curriculum
- Work collaboratively with local partners, Program Managers and other HFA staff to promote program and recruit apprentices
- Help develop a job matching system to align participants' skills, interests, and training with available civil service job openings
- Collect and analyze feedback from apprentices and project partners as appropriate to ensure a positive apprenticeship experience and improve program delivery
- Ensure apprenticeship and partner data is properly tracked and managed for both internal purposes and stakeholder engagement and reporting
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and other funding agreements. Prepare detailed reports for funders, highlighting program outcomes, financials, and impact to demonstrate the program's success and sustainability
- Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Programs
