Join D2L's Professional Services team as a Project Manager overseeing the planning, implementation, and tracking of client projects. You will manage project scope, costs, and deliverables, leading empowered teams to successful project completion. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management, preferably in consulting or client implementation. Strong knowledge of project management principles and practices is essential, along with proficiency in various software tools. Fluency in Spanish and English is required. Requirements
- Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and oral
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a project management (preferably consulting or implementation-to-client relationship) role
- Strong knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of project management, sufficient to analyze detailed concepts, and apply these in a range of related subjects or functional areas
- Ability to handle many small projects at one time, or a few medium/large projects
- Confident and knowledgeable in Information Technology, including systems development lifecycle, business modelling, systems integration/implementation, methodologies, estimating and architecture
- Familiarity with end-to-end project lifecycle including business case definition, requirements & architecture through development & implementation
- Understanding of the basic practices, procedures and principles of project management, sufficient to analyze detailed concepts, and apply these in a range of related subjects or functional areas
- Competent in use of MS Project, MS Office, MS Outlook, MS Visio and other office tools
- Strong organizational skills
- Works proactively and independently
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of small and large projects to customers
- Work with the Sales organization on project proposals, bids, contracts, estimates, and schedules
- Lead the project team in determining client requirements and translating requirements into operational plans
- Develop and manage project plans/charters; obtain appropriate client and Desire2Learn approvals and sign-offs
- Determine, monitor and review all project economics to include costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risk
- Identify and assemble the appropriate blend of resources to meet project needs and requirements; manage sub-contractors as required
- Develop and manage project schedules and budgets in order to deliver the project on-time and on-budget
- Create communication plans, ensuring that appropriate information is exchanged among key stakeholders
- Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on activities related to the project; including financial health and status of the project; all risks, issues, changes; deliverables; etc. Undertake regular status review meetings among project team members and clients
- Prepare and/or present project status reports to various levels within management and the client
- Develop project control and reporting procedures and manage changes in operational plan Control project requirements, scope, and change management issues
- Establish appropriate metrics for measuring key project success criteria
- Identify and assess risks, severity and impacts; determine and implement risk mitigation strategies, communicate risk to client and internal to Desire2Learn as appropriate. Manage and mitigate all risks throughout life-cycle of project
- Coach and advise team members to accomplish project goals, to meet established schedules, and resolve technical/operational issues
- Manage client's expectations; understand client's point of view & needs while keeping Desire2Learn's interests in mind; Promote a Win/Win attitude with the client; follow up and follow through on commitments responsibly
- Proactively influence clients to apply project planning methodologies
- Conduct post project reviews / lessons learned
- Ensure adherence to legally binding requirements
- Integrate and use Project Management methodologies
- Maintain awareness on emerging technologies and project management techniques
- Manage multiple concurrent projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional services / customer servicing project management experience
- PMP certification
