Summary
Join SMX as a mission-driven Project Manager to support a high-priority ISR aviation program for the U.S. Army. Manage program operations and subcontractor execution for airborne ISR support using contractor-owned, contractor-operated (COCO) platforms across the continental U.S. This remote role requires 35β45% travel. Oversee subcontractor performance, track metrics, and lead coordination of reports. Serve as the primary interface between SMX, vendors, and government stakeholders. Ensure compliance with contractual, security, and aviation safety requirements. Manage travel, subcontract documentation, and invoicing. Contribute to continuous improvement in airborne ISR execution. The salary range is $106,700β$177,800 USD.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in project or program management supporting DoD or IC contracts
- Demonstrated success in subcontractor management and performance oversight, in aviation or ISR programs
- Familiarity with ISR operations, aircraft operations, and mission support programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience interfacing directly with government clients and subcontractors
- Highly organized with proven ability to manage schedules, logistics, documentation, and compliance requirements
- Able to travel 35β45% of the time to CONUS locations (e.g., site visits, meetings, inspections)
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily performance and deliverables of subcontractor teams supporting aerial ISR operations
- Track performance metrics including flight hours, readiness rates, and compliance
- Lead the coordination and submission of monthly status reports (MSRs), SITREPs, and deliverables
- Serve as primary interface between SMX, vendor, and government stakeholders for tasking and execution updates
- Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual, security, and aviation safety requirements including DCMA 8210.1D and FAR Part 91
- Lead internal program reviews, readiness assessments, and facilitate problem resolution with cross-functional stakeholders
- Manage travel approvals, ensure proper subcontract documentation, and verify invoicing aligns with authorized flight hours and labor categories
- Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in airborne ISR execution across multiple CONUS locations
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification or equivalent program management credential
- Experience with remote team leadership and collaboration tools (Teams, Confluence, etc.)
