Project Manager, Revenue Cycle Management Consultant

This remote contract role offers potential travel opportunities and requires strong project management skills, strategic leadership, and deep operational knowledge of revenue cycle processes. You will lead end-to-end project management of Revenue Cycle initiatives, coordinate stakeholders, develop project plans, and identify process optimization opportunities. The ideal candidate possesses 7+ years of direct Revenue Cycle Management experience and prior experience as a Project Manager leading revenue cycle projects. Competitive hourly consulting rates are offered based on experience.

Requirements

• Minimum 7+ years of direct experience in Revenue Cycle Management (required)
• Prior experience as a Project Manager leading revenue cycle projects in hospitals, health systems, or medical groups
• Strong understanding of front-end and back-end RCM functions
• Excellent communication, organization, and client-facing skills
• Ability to work independently in a consulting environment

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end project management of Revenue Cycle initiatives (Patient Access, Billing, Collections, Cash Posting, Denials Management, etc.)
• Coordinate stakeholders across operational, financial, and IT teams to ensure project goals are met
• Develop and manage project plans, timelines, deliverables, and risk mitigation strategies
• Identify opportunities to optimize revenue cycle processes and recommend strategic improvements
• Conduct stakeholder interviews, workflow analysis, and gap assessments
• Provide status updates, executive summaries, and post-project evaluation reports to leadership
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and healthcare regulatory standards

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP certification preferred, but not required
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or other EHR systems
• Lean Six Sigma or Process Improvement background
• Previous experience advising CFOs, Revenue Cycle Directors, or hospital executive leadership
