Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in grants or funds management
  • A master’s degree in business, economics, engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • A network of contacts in Canadian and/or US institutions and broad knowledge of public funding and mechanisms in industries such as renewables, utilities, large manufacturing projects
  • Strong commercial acumen and a willingness to work against clear and quantifiable targets
  • Ability to communicate complex matters at various levels of hierarchy
  • Bilingual French/English is required
  • Detail-oriented and highly analytical yet practical

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex public funding programs with various internal and external interfaces
  • Orchestrate and write grant applications at a significant scale, in partnership with projects managers and leaders across the organization, particularly in the Policy and Science teams
  • Keep a detailed calendar that includes all deadlines and milestones for public funding opportunities: submission dates, implementation of effective data collection procedures, reporting, follow-up, etc
  • Identify funding opportunities and assess the eligibility of Deep Sky projects for public funding opportunities
  • Align public funding opportunities with other sources of financing and strive for optimal funding structures on a corporate and project level
  • Help maintain records of financial transactions related to grants and ensure compliance with legal requirements
  • Prepare complete and accurate financial statements and reports for grants
  • Participate in special projects as needed, notably in new standards related to financial accounting for climate and carbon credits, and project/infrastructure financing
