Summary
Join HLB, a global network of independent advisory and accounting firms, as the Regional Director North America. Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for network development and creating value for North American member firms through commercial growth, market profile, and interfirm collaboration. You will build strong relationships with member firm leaders, drive an exceptional member experience, and facilitate cross-border business development. This role requires a deep understanding of member firms, strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.
Requirements
Ideally, the candidate should have at least ten years of work experience in a similar role and should have spent an important part of her/his career in professional services in the US, preferably in other networks or associations
Responsibilities
- Develop a deep and ongoing understanding of each of the member firms in the region β commercials, services and industries/locations/key partners/goals, objectives and challenges
- Proactively engage individuals from all member firms for NA Group participation
- Maintain strong relationships with the leaders of HLB federations in the region for the delivery of the strategic objectives and to provide relevant input to the head office on the needs of the region
- Educate member firms on the range of resources available for them, upcoming events and conferences, new member firms and affinity partners etc
- Proactively facilitate the exchange of referred work across relevant countries, including through the network technology tools where necessary
- Collaborate with other team members to constantly improve the referred work and joint tender process to enhance the member experience and commercial outcomes
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure that member firms are guided through the implementation of actions as indicated in the network strategy
- Ensure that member firms complete relevant reporting to the executive office
- Facilitate negotiations with member and prospective firms on various matters
- Be the βhostβ of the primary North America conferences; currently in the Leadership Conference in May and Audit, Tax & Advisory Conference in December
- Assist in various areas of conference design and planning for these conferences, including overall delegate experience and set out of the agendas and identification of speakers
- Deliver presentations as needed β usually HLB updates / announcements at conferences and community group meetings as appropriate
- Attend conference sessions, social events, and a variety of meetings with delegates and others
- Represent North America in regional meetings held in other regions with, among others, the aim of helping the flow of referred business from and into North America
- Support global HLB groups deliver relevant actions including through commercial activities to generate cross-border business for the network
- Through external market scanning and intimacy with HLB strategy identify, develop, and create North America best practice, specialty and industry groups, and provide guidance to Project Manager on relevant activities following the existing frameworks
- Devise and drive business development programmes through central initiatives and through working closely with the ITC, the Chief Growth Officer, commercial communities and with external channels to increase the amount of referred work across the network
- Work with the CEO to prepare the budget for relevant commercial areas
- Together with the CEO, develop an annual development strategy to achieve network's strategic growth objectives
- Implement the development plan by identifying and meeting with prospective firms, by assessing if prospect firms are a good fit for the network, by proposing to the CEO the recruitment of new member firms in relevant locations and by assisting Federations/Principal Members in their development efforts where necessary
- Take responsibility of the new firm onboarding
- Evaluate member firms regarding their continuing ability to meet HLB membership criteria and strategic aims and keep the CEO informed
- Analyse network landscape and organise market intelligence reports
- Identify and handle dispute management and conflict, which may result in firm offboarding in line with HLB quality standards and values
- Co-operate, communicate, and work well with a wide range of people, including co-workers, member firms, prospective member firms, group and committee leaders, consultants to contribute to a productive working environment
- Establish and maintain contact as appropriate for the smooth running of the network
- Support the CEO in the preparation of relevant reports and presentations
Preferred Qualifications
An MBA degree and/or other post-graduate executive leadership qualifications are desirable
