Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in sales tax compliance in a multi-state environment
• Minimum 5  years of experience in payroll accounting
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Responsibilities

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing financial analysis and reporting
• Assist Accounting Director with ad-hoc projects as needed
• Oversee sales tax filing in 20+ states
• Conduct regular reviews and reconciliations of sales tax accounts
• Provide training and support to internal teams on sales tax compliance and processes as needed
• Process payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, deductions, and bonuses
• Maintain and update employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in status
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax withholdings and reporting and filings
• Prepare monthly/annual payroll and benefits accrual journal entries
• Prepare and submit payroll-related reports, such as tax filings and year-end W-2s
• Monthly commission account analysis and payouts
