Requirements

  • CPA or equivalent Accountancy Qualification
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Business, Finance, or Accounting
  • 7+ years of professional experience in General Accounting
  • Fluency in Spanish and English Language Skills (Written and Verbal)
  • Direct experience in managing Spanish Legal Entities
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, including preparing and posting journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement analysis and report preparation, variance analysis and compliance with Spanish Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Background in a publicly traded company, with an understanding of the associated reporting and compliance requirements
  • Experience with audit processes, preferably in a public company
  • Strong knowledge and practical experience with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance, including the ability to establish, monitor, and improve internal controls
  • Knowledge related to managing R&D Grants
  • Experience with various payment provider offerings, capabilities, tools and bank or payment reconciliations
  • Experience working with Spanish tax requirements and Transfer Pricing
  • Experience working with enterprise accounting packages
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

  • Conduct month-end closing activities, including balance sheets and reconciliations
  • Prepare Spanish GAAP financial statements and review them for accuracy
  • Review monthly P&L reports and provide explanations to management for any questions
  • Manage and collaborate with local auditors in Spain to ensure timely financial regulatory filings
  • Coordinate various annual accounting and tax filings
  • Analyse actual financial results against standards or budget; investigate and explain any variances in coordination with the Finance department
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and forecast requirements
  • Reconcile fixed assets and other key accounts to the general ledger, including roll forwards
  • Prepare and submit claims for R&D grants and tax credits
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Manage two direct reports

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the SaaS (Software as a Service) industry, with knowledge of its unique financial practices and challenges
  • Experience working within a U.S.-based company, understanding of U.S. financial regulations and business practices
  • Experience with Business Process Management and Automation tools
  • Experience with ERP accounting systems, such as NetSuite
