Requirements
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in asset management within the solar industry, including utility-scale and distributed generation projects
- Proven leadership experience, including managing individuals who oversee their own teams, with ability to lead, motivate, and mentor staff effectively
- Extensive experience working with ISOs, particularly PJM, and a deep understanding of market trends, rules, regulations, and pricing mechanisms
- Strong knowledge of and experience managing contracts including various types of PPAs, service agreements, and landowner leases
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels in the organization
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A self-starter with a proactive mindset and the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Customer focused with experience using critical reasoning and judgement to make good decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, business administration, or a related field
Responsibilities
- Manage and provide leadership to a team of solar and storage asset managers and analysts
- Foster a collaborative and high performing work environment focused on increasing profitability and maximizing returns
- Create and nurture mindsets of accountability, solution focus, profit enhancement, and an external focus
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members
- Accountable for the P&L of all managed assets in operations phase
- Develop and implement asset management plans, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess the performance of assets
- Make decisions involving site level operations, commercial hedging and risk management, regulatory, governmental, property tax implications, finance, and project debt considerations
- Represent the companyβs interest at the project level to assure maximum profitability and return on investment
- Develop and implement effective risk management strategies to mitigate operational, financial, and regulatory risks associated with asset management
- Stay up to date with market trends, ISO market rules, regulations, and pricing mechanisms
- Manage warranty and insurance claims including gathering data and working with other departments to resolve and close
- Collaborating with the Performance Excellence team, manage fleet performance analysis and seek improvement opportunities and drive continuous improvement across the organization
- Manage power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other contractual agreements, ensuring compliance with partner, investor, and lender obligations
- Prepare and provide regular reports and presentations for partner, investor, and lender compliance
- Ensure department reporting is up to date, adhering to both internal and external standards
- Collaborate closely with development, operations, finance, performance engineering, legal, and others to optimize asset performance
- Work with operations and performance engineers to find solutions for challenges that could reduce performance of the assets
- Participate in handover sessions with construction delivery, finance transactional, and operations teams to ensure proper management of asset transition between teams
- Collaborate with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and permit requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including O&M providers, PPA counterparties, utilities, regulatory agencies, landowners and communities
