Responsibilities

  • Build upon and implement Rewiring America’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts
  • Support the Chief of Staff, Vice President of Operations & Planning in scaling an organizational culture that is values- and purpose-driven, inclusive, results-oriented, and joyful
  • Implement inspired internal communications and organizational culture-building opportunities for a distributed team
  • Manage Rewiring America’s standards of skills and competencies at different position levels in close relationship with Function leaders
  • Manage Rewiring’s performance management program, including goal setting and performance evaluation processes
  • Create learning and professional development programs and initiatives
  • Provide guidance on productivity, recognition, morale-boosting, and team-building initiatives
  • Prioritize occupational health and safety for team members
  • Develop policies and tools to support performance improvement processes
  • Provide training and guidance to managers on strong performance management practices
  • Scale an internal people and culture team to support rapid growth
  • Identify staffing and recruiting needs and develop innovative recruitment pipelines
  • Manage recruiters and consultants focused on talent acquisition
  • Leverage communications assets to reach diverse audiences of prospective applicants
  • Manage Rewiring America’s equity-centered compensation philosophy
  • Ensure strong implementation of onboarding and orientation processes

The Opportunity and Position Summary

Rewiring America is growing rapidly. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, we have an historic opportunity to electrify our communities. Rewiring America is at the heart of the strategy to leverage that opportunity and is scaling up its work significantly. Rewiring America is expanding rapidly and seeks an entrepreneurial Head of People & Culture to join our team. This position reports to the Chief of Staff, Vice President of Operations & Planning. Head of P&C will be a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for developing and driving strategic human resource functions to support our rapid growth. They will build and nurture a values-driven, inclusive, and high-performance organizational culture.

What You’ll Do

The Head of People & Culture holds key responsibilities that will evolve over time as the team grows and functions are distributed. We anticipate a focus on the following:

Organizational Culture Building

  • Build upon and implement Rewiring America’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts.
  • Support the Chief of Staff, Vice President of Operations & Planning in scaling an organizational culture that is values- and purpose-driven, inclusive, results-oriented, and joyful.
  • Implement inspired internal communications and organizational culture-building opportunities for a distributed team.

Performance Management

  • Manage Rewiring America’s standards of skills and competencies at different position levels in close relationship with Function leaders..

  • Manage Rewiring America’s equity-centered compensation philosophy.
  • Ensure strong implementation of onboarding and orientation processes.

Team & Departmental Management

  • Develop and implement policies, processes, training, and initiatives to support human resource compliance.
  • Partner with the General Counsel to ensure compliance with all federal regulations.
  • Design, recruit, hire, and manage the People and Culture team.
  • Establish annual objectives, provide feedback, conduct performance reviews, and support professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Human Resources Certification, such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP.
  • Proficiency with people operations technology (e.g., performance management software, applicant tracking systems).

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is [$200,000 - $250,000] USD, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
