Requirements

  • Passionate about data privacy
  • IAPP Certified
  • 5+ years of experience leading, coordinating, and delivering interdisciplinary privacy projects
  • 2+ years working in-house in a growing privacy function
  • Implemented OneTrust and other automated privacy practices before, in partnership with counsel and engineering
  • Strong understanding of COPPA, GDPR, CCPA (and other state privacy laws), as well as other relevant privacy laws, with the ability to navigate their intersections
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex privacy risks to diverse audiences
  • Exceptional project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Create and conduct scalable privacy assessments
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to release improvements and audit new features
  • Enhance our data retention policies
  • Make sure our data usage is compliant with emerging law in each region that we operate in
  • Ensure our different types of users (parent, teacher, school leaders, children) are aware of how ClassDojo protects their data, what data Dojo has, and where they can learn more
  • Update and draft multiple privacy-related documents (e.g. privacy policies, privacy FAQs, DSR form responses, privacy decks for compliance (e.g. iKeepSafe certification), Schedule of Data for school use)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on consumer-grade digital products
  • Experience in high-growth, tech start-up environments
  • Management experience
  • Had experience responding to a regulatory inquiry
  • Managed the relationship with certifying bodies
  • Experience with the privacy evaluation process of new vendors
  • Experience with student data privacy, including the 130 plus state student privacy laws and FERPA
  • Experience with UK Children’s Code or other Age Appropriate Design Codes (AADC)
  • Experience in addressing the privacy challenges posed by artificial intelligence
  • Relevant certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or CIPT

Benefits

  • Salary ranges (United States): CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT states: $205,000 - $270,000 (USD)
  • All other states in the US: $174,300 - $229,500 (USD)
