Requirements

  • 6-8 years of experience in a financial role (FP&A experience required)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with superior attention to detail; has very strong excel (or google sheets) and powerpoint (or google slides) skills
  • Ability to establish, track, and evaluate performance metrics
  • Hands-on experience with pulling & analyzing complex data; strong financial modeling skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast growing dynamic environment
  • A passion for solving challenging and impactful problems; getting into the weeds by understanding the how and why of business processes
  • A curious nature; if something seems off, take immediate actions to figure out what’s going on
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work in collaboration with various team members
  • Strong communication skills including effective writing skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple & easy-to-understand way
  • Confidence to embrace new ways of doing things, including automating functions and looks for continuous improvement
  • Has new ideas to bring to Wealthsimple and acts without being told what to do
  • Honesty/integrity - Doesn't cut corners; does what is right

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts
  • Work closely with the business units and Finance teams to develop monthly, quarterly and annual expense forecasts
  • Work with the People Ops team to develop and track payroll expenses and related metrics
  • Perform variance analysis on actuals to forecast and provide actionable insights to the business based on variance analysis
  • Assist financial reporting team during month end close for accuracy and completeness of information
  • Prepare external board materials and other deliverables
  • Provide assistance on ad-hoc projects

In this role you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and maintain annual budget and quarterly re-forecasts, including streamlining the budgeting process
  • Work closely with the business units and Finance teams to develop monthly, quarterly and annual expense forecasts
  • Work with the People Ops team to develop and track payroll expenses and related metrics
  • Perform variance analysis on actuals to forecast and provide actionable insights to the business based on variance analysis
  • Assist financial reporting team during month end close for accuracy and completeness of information

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • A passion for solving challenging and impactful problems; getting into the weeds by understanding the how and why of business processes

  • Strong communication skills including effective writing skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas in a simple & easy-to-understand way; the ability to accurately tell the story behind the numbers in a compelling manner
  • Confidence to embrace new ways of doing things, including automating functions and looks for continuous improvement
  • Has new ideas to bring to Wealthsimple and acts without being told what to do
